KLATEN FLASHBACK – With the latest iOS update, iPhone 15 Pro users can now take advantage of immersive spatial video recording capabilities, which can be viewed in 3D using Apple Vision Pro.

Apple introduced this feature in the iOS 17.2 update, and is now further promoting the use of this feature by bringing it to the camera app via the iOS 17.4 beta.

The steps for recording spatial video on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are quite easy.

Make sure your device is running iOS 17.2 or later to access this feature.

Spatial video can only be recorded in landscape orientation, so make sure you turn your phone sideways before starting recording.

After opening the camera app, select video mode.

Then, rotate your phone to landscape orientation and tap the Vision Pro icon to start 3D video recording.

Make sure your iPhone remains stable during the recording process for best results.

It is important to remember that spatial video recording requires more storage space compared to regular video.

For example, one minute of regular SDR 1080p 30fps video on the iPhone 15 Pro requires around 65 MB, while spatial video with the same specifications requires around 130 MB.

So, make sure you have enough storage space available before starting recording.

During recording, ensure that the distance between iPhone and subject is within the range of 1 to 2.5 meters for best results.

Record spatial video in good lighting conditions to get optimal detail.

Once you’ve finished recording, you can share the video with other Apple Vision Pro users using the AirDrop feature, or upload it to iCloud for access via Vision Pro.

It’s important to note that the iPhone 15 Pro uses both the main camera and an ultra-wide angle lens to record data and depth, allowing for the creation of true 3D videos.

However, spatial video recording is not available on the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models due to differences in camera configuration.

With these new capabilities, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users can produce more immersive and engaging video content, opening the door to a more immersive and engaging viewing experience for Vision Pro users.***
