Palembang (ANTARA) –
The Lubuklinggau City Government, South Sumatra (Sumsel) is intensifying traditional game competitions to minimize gadget addiction among children in the city.
Lubuk Linggau Mayor’s Expert Staff for Community Affairs and Human Resources Subiando Amin in Lubuklinggau, Thursday, said that currently the possibility of games for children involves more use of gadgets, such as video games and so on.
Therefore, traditional games must always be encouraged, so that they can become an attraction for children and teenagers, even tourists who visit Lubuklinggau City.
“Apart from that, it can preserve traditional games and reduce the risk of addiction to gadgets or online games for children,” he said.
He added that the traditional competition was held in a museum environment so that children could also learn history.
It is hoped that this activity can foster enthusiasm for children, starting from the spirit of togetherness, unity, greeting each other and interacting.
“We hope that children will no longer depend on things like technology addiction which can be negative,” he said.
He added that traditional game competitions were held in the form of congklak, clogs, batok stilts, cengkling, and pinang climbing.
He expressed his thanks to the Head of the South Sumatra Tourism Office who had taken part in carrying out this activity. “I hope this activity will continue to be intensified in the coming years,” he said.
